Hello, New here and I am looking for a recomendation.
I have been using iedit for years (came with a scanner) and it does everything I need for my website.
Our old PC running XP is getting tired and we replaced it with a new box running Win10.
I want to buy a program, but don't like photoshop. Corell wants like $400.
What would y'all suggest?
Regards, Ray

Hi Ray, and welcome!

Most, if not all, people here are still using PhotoImpact, although some also use other programs as well.

I'm actually still using PI version 12 which has installed perfectly on my new laptop with Windows 10 but some others have upgraded their PI with the newer version from Corel. Even though Corel no longer supports it they still sell it for download, I believe and it apparently works fine.

Hi, Ray! YAYAYAYAYA another PI die hard! The first version I had of PI was actually Image Pals2Go. It was not friendly at all and I couldn't use it. Could be the computer I had, too. Plus the fact I had no clue what the heck to do with it. Next version I got was 4 and eventually learned it could do more than make frames for pictures. ROFLOL I haven't looked back. I use PIX3 on Windows 10 just fine. I do have PSE and PSCS5 and am learning those, too, but I generally run to PI and give it a big hug. LOL

Welcome to PI-I! :)

Cindy and Anne,
I downloaded the demo and played a little bit with it last night. I was very happy to see many things that are quite the same as Iedit.

We are a small manufacturer and I need to fix photos for our website. I do a lot of cropping and resizing, adding water marks (with shadow) and use brightness and contrast too.

When I need a thumbnail for our shopping cart the sharpen feature is great on small images.

I am sure in the days to come I will be exploring the menus and will find other things I can use.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Regards, Ray

Well I guess I'm the only one here who uses PhotoImpact, Photoshop, PSP, Illustrator and a little bit of Xara Design. I always had trouble choosing favorites, but I find I can do more of the things you listed with PSP6 or 7.

With Photoshop and Illustrator, I pay for it by the month.

I see where the latest version of PSP is $63.99, not bad.
I hope you stick around and join in some challenges.

I'm standing for Photoshop. And I personally use it often. But the future is for the web browser based photo editors, definitely! Beside pixlr and toolpic that are mentioned above, I also may suggest loonapix for a one-click photo editing. It's quite enough if you want to add photo effect or photo frame and decorate photo quickly.

Not familiar with those programs.  I am still learning Illustrator and Xara Design and I paint with ArtRage.

So I'm not at a point where I want to start learning a new one!  My brain is packed full already!    I may just check them out, though.

I don't do much with photo editing.  I'd rather do graphics and painting.  Lightroom is also helpful.  This forum started with all PhotoImpact but now you use whatever you want!
