On Monday, July 30th, I will be having surgery on my neck. The same surgeon who did my back surgeries will handle this one as well. He will go in from the front to replace two disks. Then he will turn me over and fuse all 7 vertebrae together. I will have to sit and sleep upright for awhile (I don't know how long yet) and will wear a neck brace for a couple weeks. The entire convalescent period is 3 months. I expect that includes some type of rehab. Since I will be upright and my computer is next to me in the bedroom, I plan to spend some time on here. How well I adjust will dictate how long I can sit here. WATCH OUT FOR TYPOS!!!

Well, good luck with your surgery, Joanne.  Sounds like a complicated one!  Hubby had the first part done where they go into the front and they put some kind of little rods in there.  His main complaint afterwards was hurting to swallow for awhile but it turned out okay.
So amazing what surgeons can do!  I hope you will be pain free after recovery.  I had lumbar decompression surgery in 2005 myself and I know how pain can ruin your life.
We can all make get well cards for you!
We wil overllok teh typos. lol

Back home. surgery went very well. The only problem, so far, is quite a bit of muscle pain. Heavy duty pain meds will take care of that as well as my typing!!! Only here for a check in. Maybe a bit longer tomorrow.

Great you've got that over with!    I think a lot of other members may have had surgery, it's so quiet around here.

feeling pretty well, but pain stretches from shoulder to shoulder. Odd, incisions seem fine, it's all muscle and i can't look down at the keyboard. Looks like it will be a few more days.

That muscle took on some trauma and is complaining about it! Shoulder massage with lavender oil! THAT sounds good!

Heal quickly!

Thank you all. Your words are encouraging. I have had a few bad days where I couldn't use either arm without major pain. This morning seems much brighter. Must stay positive. You know what they say about an apple a day...on to my applesauce breakfast!!
I will send my apologies now for not commenting individually. I can't reach all the keyboard keys easily, so typing is a bit strenuous. I am loving your work .
